With WATG being founded in 1945 in Waikiki, our continued growth precipitated a move to our downtown Honolulu office in the Topa Financial Center in 1997. Our fantastic views of the water and the mountains get our creative minds working and ignite the island spirit. With Lion Dancers at Chinese New Year and year round aloha attire, our warm hospitable culture permeates our design of the guest experience.

WATG’s first foray outside of Hawaii was our Newport Beach office which opened in 1981. As demand for our work increased, Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Marina del Rey offices swiftly followed. In 2006, we had the opportunity to bring our Southern California design teams together in one location in Irvine—the strategic hub of our global family. In 2023, we moved location to Tustin Flight, a thoughtfully designed office campus.

Anticipating the economic boom that has placed China as one of the world’s leading economies, the WATG Management team invested early in developing relationships and cultural understanding of this nation. With four decades of experience designing hotels and resorts for mainland China and throughout the region, our Shanghai office allows WATG and Wimberly Interiors to be at the heart of growth and progress.

Towards a Sustainable Tomorrow

In conjunction with Earth Day 2023, we have reinforced our advocacy for a greener future and to find solutions for designing landmarks with low environmental footprints.As the world celebrates Earth Day on 22 April 2023, we have reinforced our advocacy of designing with sustainability in mind. For over 70 years, we have stood at the forefront of sustainable architecture – from reducing carbon emissions via renovations to designing energy-efficient buildings. We have set an ambitious goal for all projects to have an accredited team member onboard by 2024. By 2025, we hope to receive accreditation for at least 50 percent of our team.
